The 1975 at BB&T Pavilion in 2019 ( by Eric M. Townsend)

The 1975 are gearing up to release their anticipated new album Notes On A Conditional Form this year (they recently had to push the release date back; it’s now due April 24 via Interscope/Dirty Hit), and they just debuted its third single on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, “Me & You Together.” They said on the show that the song is a new version of an idea that dates back to their pre-1975 days when they were known as Drive Like I Do, and it finds them flirting with jangle and dream pop. It’s pretty cool stuff — watch them perform it via BBC Radio 1 and listen to the official stream of it below.

They also reveal on BBC Radio 1 that the album has 22 (!) songs and that it’s about an hour and 20 minutes long. They say that, while Notes won’t be the last 1975 album, it feels like the end of an era to them and that it might be a while before they make another album after this one.

The 1975 also recently revealed that they’re returning to the US to play Bonnaroo, and they’ve now announced a headlining tour surrounding that fest with amazing support from Phoebe Bridgers (whose new 2020 album we’re also highly anticipating and who reportedly has a collaboration with The 1975 on the way). The 1975’s Dirty Hit labelmate beabadoobee is also on the tour.

That great triple bill includes a big NYC show att Madison Square Garden on May 26. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, January 24 at 9 AM with a BrooklynVegan presale starting Thursday (1/23) at 10 AM. Check back here on the 23rd for the presale password.
