The ARChive of Contemporary Music's 2018 Holiday Record & CD Sale starts this weekend

NYC’s ARChive of Contemporary Music‘s annual Holiday Record + CD Sale runs from December 8 – 23 at ARC HQ (54 White St.) from 11 AM – 6 PM daily. This is their largest sale ever, with more than 10,000 items in every genre imaginable:

Each year approximately 250,000 recordings are donated to the ARC. We sort through these, make sure we have the two best copies in our collection, then sell off all third copies. Our sales improve the permanent collection, free up space on the shelves and put a great many lovely and hard to get items back into the hands of music lovers.

The ARC Holiday Record + CD Sale is free to attend. Meanwhile, ARC is also throwing its annual Holiday Dance Party on December 10 at 99 Scott Ave in Brooklyn with DJ sets from Laurie Anderson, ‘Jellybean’ Benitez (Studio 54, early Madonna producer), Fred Schneider (B-52s), Hank Shocklee (Public Enemy), Craig Kallman (CEO of Atlantic Records), DJ Bunny Ears and Phast Phreddie the Boogaloo Omnibus. Tickets are on sale, and you can check out the flyer below.

Meanwhile if you’ve been holding onto boxes of CDs or records that never leave those boxes, you might consider donating them to the ARC. It’s tax deductible and they’ll even come and pick them up. Learn more about the ARC here.
