The Armed

The Armed share new video, playing Northside with special guests

There’s basically no other band like Detroit collective The Armed. They work elements of punk, hardcore, screamo, black metal, noise, shoegaze, post-punk, electronics, and more into their undefinable sound, which tends to cover more ground on one song than most bands do on entire albums. They’ve got multiple vocalists who go back and forth and deliver everything from the most delicate whisper to the harshest shriek, and they also work with a different drummer on every album. Their last album, 2015’s Untitled, had Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists, Sumac) behind the kit, and the upcoming Only Love was done with Ben Koller of Converge, Mutoid Man, All Pigs Must Die, and more.

Genre-defying heavy collective The Armed recently released their crazy good new album Only Love and that’s an excerpt of my writeup of the album above. They’ve now got a new video for “Nowhere to be Found,” which stars dancer Kristin Adamczyk and the same monsters from the band’s previous videos. It was directed by Tony Wolski (who’s also their live drummer) and you can watch it below.

The Armed recently wrapped up a tour with Mutoid Man, and they’ve got a one-off happening as part of Brooklyn’s Northside Festival in June. The show takes place 6/9 at Saint Vitus with Funeral Leech, Nightfear and special guests, and we hear those guests “probably shouldn’t be on this bill” which is only $5, so you can probably expect someone good. Tickets are on sale now.

That’s one of Revolver Mag‘s two Northside shows — the other is at BK Bazaar on 6/8 with Skinless, Primal Rite, Ringworm, and more.
