The B-52s cancel dates (tonight's Cap show included)
The B-52s were supposed to bring their tour to the NYC-area for a show at The Capitol Theatre tonight (6/6). However, that show has been postponed to a later date due to the illness of B-52s member Cindy Wilson. According to BoweryPresents.com:
The B-52s regret to announce that they are unable to perform at tonight show due to principal band member Cindy Wilson having fallen ill. Cindy’s illness is not life threatening but her doctor has ordered her to take immediate bedrest. In a statement the band said, “Our thoughts are with Cindy as we send her our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery. We sincerely regret any disappointment this has caused our fans and hope to be able to make it up to you soon!”
The Capitol Theatre and The B-52s are working to confirm a rescheduled date. All existing tickets will be honored for the new date, or refunds will be available at point of purchase.
Support at tonight’s show was going to come from Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers, who cancelled tonight’s Brooklyn Bowl show in order for Guns N’ Roses to play the venue. They will still perform at Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre and admission for that show is totally free.
No word yet on whether or not Cindy’s illness will affect the B-52s upcoming Roseland show with The Go-Gos (6/19). Tickets for that show are still on sale at the moment.
