The Bird & The Bee at Elsewhere

The Bee (without The Bird) played Elsewhere (pics, setlist)

This The Bird & The Bee show turned out to be just The Bee, as Inara George explained to the crowd that the other half of the whimsical pop duo, Greg Kurstin, doesn’t like going on tour. (He’s also an extremely in-demand producer and songwriter.) Though there was no Bird, The Bee did have a backing band, including openers Alex Lilly and Samantha Sidley singing backup. (Inara returned the favor by playing bass and singing during their sets.) There was also an appearance by Inara’s kids, who have been with her on this tour. The set opened with “Polite Dance Song,” then “Again and Again” and “Panama” (from their new Van Halen tribute album). We also got VH’s “Runnin’ With the Devil” and “Ain’t Talkin ’bout Love,” plus a couple from their Hall & Oates tribute (“I Can’t Go for That” and “Sara Smile,” which Inara dedicated to a Sara in the audience who got serenaded the whole song). Greg Kurstin did make an appearance at the end of the set, via Inara’s iPad, joining on piano. Check out the setlist below and pictures from the night are in the gallery above.
