The Cure auctioning signed guitar from this weekend's 'Pasadena Daydream' fest for charity

Robert Smith and one of his signature UltraCure guitars at MSG, 2016 (more by PSquared)

The Cure‘s Pasadena Daydream festival is this Saturday (8/31), with Robert Smith and co headlining and also featuring sets from Pixies, Deftones, Mogwai, Throwing Muses, The Joy Formidable, Chelsea Wolfe, The Twilight Sad, Emma Ruth Rundle, and Kaelan Mikla. After The Cure’s set, Smith will autograph one of the three signature Schecter UltraCure guitars he’ll play that night and donate it to a charity auction. Here’s more info on the guitar:

Redesigned for 2019, the new Schecter Robert Smith Signature UltraCure has a sleeker offset chambered mahogany body. Armed with dual Seymour Duncan ’59 humbuckers and a Bigsby vibrato, the new UltraCure has a set-in neck design with a 25.5” scale neck, ebony fingerboard, Mother-of-Pearl vintage block inlays and side glow-dots for dark stages.

Proceeds from the auction — as well as $1 from every Pasadena Daydream ticket –will benefit charities Free Arts for Abused Children, Inner-City Arts, Little Kids Rock, Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation and The Painted Turtle. Lean more about the auction, and place your bid, here.

The Cure will also play Austin’s ACL Fest in October and they’re working on a new album that Robert told LA Times is “very much on the darker side of the spectrum,” and has a working title of Live From the Moon.
