The Damned are back on tour with recovering Captain Sensible on a throne (video/setlist from Asbury Park)
Having taken a spill that landed him offstage with a broken rib, Captain Sensible needed some recovery time, causing The Damned to postpone a few dates on their North American tour, including their Brooklyn show. Captain was back at the helm, though, for their Asbury Park show on May 6 where he played from a special “throne” as you can see in the picture above. “As movement is a bit awkward currently, I played last night seated,” Sensible noted afterwards, “but it all went swimmingly, and this epic 40th anniversary tour is now firmly back on the road. We’ve played some great venues on the trip… and Asbury Park’s Stone Pony is up there with the best of ’em. But I have to say I wish I’d waited till here before backflipping off the stage, as this one was only 3 feet high. D’oh!”
Setlist from the Asbury Park show at Stony Pony, along with video of the Captain taking his throne, are below. The Damned’s tour rolls on, and hits Atlanta tonight. The Damned’s rescheduled Brooklyn show happens May 23 at Warsaw and is sold out. Updated dates are listed below.
In other news The Damned have signed with Search and Destroy who will release The Damned’s new album, which they’re recording this summer. It will be their first album since 2008’s So, Who’s Paranoid? Stay tuned.
