The Dance, new club from Baby's & Elvis owner, opens next week

The Dance is a new multi-room Manhattan club and music venue from Baby’s All Right and Elvis Guesthouse (RIP) owner Billy Jones. It’s located at 428 Lafayette, which is just below Astor Place and across the street from Joe’s Pub and The Public Theatre (and neighbors with Indochine). Like Baby’s, The Dance is intimate — the main stage room holds around 250 people. There’s also a smaller DJ room (pictured below). While the official opening is next week, The Dance has already tested its soundsystem with five soft opening events (some completely private), including two New York Fashion Week parties and a ‘Club Glam’ party (you may remember that name from China Chalet). On Tuesday there was a very private birthday party for Sirius XM exec Scott Greenstein that featured a live performance from Cheap Trick, and guests included Bruce Springsteen, Keith Richards, Little Steven, Richie Sambora, and more:

That made Cheap Trick the first band to play The Dance, but Yves Tumor and Sophie DJ’d the September 9th fashion week event.

While The Dance’s initial schedule hasn’t been fully revealed, there are a few shows announced: Surf Curse play on October 3 with Dirt Buyer and Water From Your Eyes (tickets); MIKE and special guests on October 19; Ariel East and Liam Benzvi on October 24 (tickets); True Blue and Body Meat on October 26; and HTRK and Blazer Sound System on November 9. Stay tuned for more.
