The Get Up Kids have shared a second single off their anticipated first album in eight years, Problems (due 5/10 via Polyvinyl). It’s called “The Problem Is Me,” and like lead single “Satellite,” it sees TGUK revisiting the punchy, punky sound of their classic 1999 album Something To Write Home About but revising it and adding in the maturity that’s inevitable after 20 more years of age and experience. Matt Pryor says, “The song is about a friend’s second divorce and about taking responsibility in a relationship. For me, the song is about self care. Acknowledging personal faults and trying to work on them.” The song comes with a video filmed on Super 8 that splices together performance footage of TGUK with choreographed dance pieces. “We showcased several different genres, performed by some very talented dancers who are all friends of my daughter’s ballet teacher,” director Shawn Brackbill (who also took the above photo) says. Watch/listen below.

The Get Up Kids have also announced a tour, including a Europe run with Muncie Girls and a US run with Great Grandpa.

The US run wraps up in the NYC-area, with shows at Manhattan’s Bowery Ballroom on July 25, Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on July 26, and Asbury Park’s House of Independents on July 27. Ticket info coming soon. All dates are listed below.
