The Hold Steady just played a weekend’s worth of East Coast shows, including Jersey City on Thursday, Boston (with Frank Turner) on Friday, and Hamden, CT on Saturday. We caught the Jersey City show, which was at White Eagle Hall and featured a wide-reaching 25 song set that included the live debut of a new song, “Traditional Village,” as well as new songs “Denver Haircut” and “Blackout Sam.” There were also lots of shout-a-long favorites like “Chips Ahoy!,” “Stuck Between Stations,” “Constructive Summer” and more. Setlist and a couple videos from the show are below.

Former Weakerthans frontman John K Samson opened the night with a solo acoustic set that had his share of front row fans singing along to the lyrics, too. Pictures of his set and the whole night are in the gallery above.

The Hold Steady play multi-night “Constructive Summer” runs in Seattle, Chicago, Nashville and Boston in August and September, and will wrap up their 2019 with their annual “Massive Nights” run at Brooklyn Bowl in December.
