The Hotelier at Bowery Ballroom

The Hotelier wrapped up their summer tour at Pitchfork Festival, but first played a NYC show at Bowery Ballroom on Friday (7/15). It was the band’s biggest sold-out headlining show here yet, and the first since their excellent, acclaimed third album Goodness, but the band seemed humble as ever.

The show began with Christian Holden singing an a cappella intro to “Goodness Pt. 2,” and eventually they were joined by the rest of the band members, and kicked right into the full song. The Goodness songs are my personal favorites, but the crowd didn’t really start getting wild until they played stuff off 2014’s Home, Like Noplace Is There. It got especially rowdy/singalong-y in the encore, when The Hotelier did that album’s “An Introduction To The Album” right into “The Scope Of All Of This Rebuilding.”

We missed openers Told Slant, Bellows, and Loone (Amanda and I were at the LUH show), but more pictures of The Hotelier continue below…
