The Intelligence break waves in new vid, touring (shows w/ Ty Segall & more)

The Intelligence have long had a connection to the sea — their 2009 album Fake Surfers kinda sums it up — and that continues with their new video for “Year of the Vet” (from this year’s Un-Psychedelic in Peavy City) which lets the waves do the talking. “Comedian and author Megan Koester told me she had a video idea for the song so we went up to Malibu to meet with her friend, co-author of the recent and excellent audiobook The Indignities of Being a Woman [and onetime David Letterman head writer], Merrill Markoe, to use her beach access,” main man Lars Finberg tells us. “While Megan was filming, I was speaking with Merrill’s partner Andy, who sang in Wall of Voodoo, who asked if the beach looked familiar. I pretended and said “sure?,” and he informed me it’s the same beach that was used for the ending of Planet of the Apes (and therefore Spaceballs), The Big Lebowski and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, ranking this video the 4th best thing filmed there.” Watch that, and listen to Un-Psychedelic in Peavy City, below.
