Tim Armstrong associates The Interrupters, who are one of the biggest ska-punk bands in years (and, to quote Billboard, “the first female-fronted ska band with an alternative radio hit since No Doubt”), having been touring all year behind their very fun new album Fight the Good Fight which came out earlier this year on Hellcat/Epitaph (and is home to their hit “She’s Kerosene”), and they’ll continue to do so in 2019.

Their just-announced 2019 tour includes headlining shows at Asbury Park’s Stone Pony on March 15 and NYC’s Irving Plaza on March 17, which are immediately after their opening slot on one of the shows on Dropkick Murphys’ Boston-area St. Patrick’s Day run. Tickets for the NY/NJ shows go on sale Friday (11/16) but first there’s a BrooklynVegan presale starting Wednesday (11/14) at 10 AM. Check back here Wednesday morning for the password.

The Interrupters also have some more 2018 dates coming up, including the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas in Inglewood, CA on 12/8 with The Smashing Pumpkins, Third Eye Blind, Bad Religion, AFI, and more; and 91X WREX the Halls in San Diego, CA on 12/14 with Death Cab For Cutie, Third Eye Blind, Lord Huron, and more. All dates are listed below.

In other news, The Thermals frontman Hutch Harris (who just released his debut solo album) recently praised The Interrupters in a piece on ska for The Talkhouse. It’s a tongue-in-cheek (but well-meaning) piece that lists ten reasons you probably hate ska, and one of them is “You Haven’t Heard The Interrupters.” Hutch writes:

I don’t usually listen to new rock radio, but I was in a masochistic mood last week and flipped an actual dial on an actual car stereo to my local corporate radio affiliate. To my shock, I liked what I heard! A fast, catchy, and dirty ditty about a girl who is like kerosene, who is gonna burn down everything except the singer, who has been burned for the last time. Nothing terribly out of the ordinary, until I listened closer: Is that a B3 organ? Is that guitar UPSTROKING? Yes, yes they were. I couldn’t believe me ears. Ska was back on the radio. Sounds kind of like Rancid, I thought to myself. And I shit you not, as soon as the song was over the DJ said “That was The Interrupters with ‘Kerosene,’ and if you thought it sounded like Rancid it’s because it was produced by Rancid’s Tim Armstrong. Now stay tuned as we play the new Imagine Dragons single seven times in a row.” I threw up in my mouth and killed the radio. When I got home I put on The Interrupters’ latest LP Fight the Good Fight. It RULES. It sounds like the bastard love child of Rancid and No Doubt and it’s just what I need right now. If this is Fourth Wave then SIGN ME UP. In my last-ditch effort at putting some ska in your life, I would suggest you put on “Title Holder” by The Interrupters and see if you don’t start immediately dancing around your apartment.
