Kathleen Hanna‘s band The Julie Ruin are releasing their anticipated album Hit Reset on July 8 via Hardly Art. The wait is now over and you can stream it below via NPR.

Given how outspoken and personal Kathleen Hanna has been throughout her career, it should be no surprise that this album shows that side of her, from singing about her experience growing up in an abusive household in to dealing with the unrealistic expectations set for women.

In “Be Nice”, an empowering track about sexual harassment, Kathleen gnarls as she details what she’s going through and how she manages to fend off the creep and in my personal favorite, “Mr. So and So,” she calls out hypocritical male fans who use her to heighten their “woke” status. In “Hell Trust No One,” one of the poppiest tracks off the album with a bit of an ’80s vibe, she sarcastically sings about what it’s like to be an icon in the public eye, as singing about playing electric guitar while shaving her legs in a car. Each song is deeply relatable, reminding us why Kathleen remains one of the biggest feminist icons in punk. Stream it below.

As mentioned, The Julie Ruin have a tour coming up soon, including Panorama festival in NYC. All dates are listed below.
