The Kills / Moon Duo @ Bowery Ballroom 10/23/2014

The Kills headlined the Bowery show, and though they’re technically constituted of two people their sound totally saturated the venue. Alison Mosshart is the ideal of a frontperson; she’s deeply tuned to the sub-rhythms of their songs, like a human seismometer. She drifted lyrically and effortlessly around the stage, as if she were a ghost produced by the intricately knotted percussion of their songs. – [The Guardian]

The Kills played two shows during CMJ Week: first a non-fest appearance at the Open Road Aperture Foundation Benefit at Terminal 5 on Tuesday (10/21) and then a proper set at Bowery Ballroom on Thursday (10/22). The Bowery CMJ showcase also featured San Francisco’s zoned-out, motorik psych band Moon Duo, Tulsa, OK’s Nuns, and locals Slothrust.
