The Lawrence Arms announce career retrospective LP and tour

The Lawrence Arms have been going strong since making a comeback in 2014 with the awesome Metropole, their first album since 2006’s Oh! Calcutta! (which they played in full at Riot Fest last year for its 10th-ish anniversary). They’re keeping things going, having just announced a career retrospective compilation that they’re calling a “greatest hits for a band without hits.” It also includes five previously unreleased songs from the Oh! Calcutta! sessions, and “extensive liner notes and commentary from the band.” It’s called We Are the Champions of the World and it comes out March 30 via Fat Wreck Chords (pre-order). Tracklist, a trailer video, and more info below.

They’ve also announced the “Champions of the World Tour” with Red City Radio and Sincere Engineer, including shows at NJ’s Crossroads on April 5 and NYC’s Gramercy Theatre on April 9. Tickets for the NJ show go on sale Thursday (2/1) at 10 AM and ticket info for the NYC show will be available soon. All dates are listed below.

MORE INFO FROM THE LAWRENCE ARMS:

Hey hey! TLA world HQ here, and we’ve just been informed that as of March 30th, we will be officially awarded the title of Champions of the World, which, what an honor. To celebrate, we’re teaming up with Fat to launch a career retrospective thingy (think greatest hits for a band without hits), entitled “We Are The Champions Of The World” (seems appropriate, under the circumstances, right?), and doing some touring in support of this thing with the likes of some really swell acts who will undoubtedly perform many top-notch numbers each night as well. Uh, what else? Oh, there will be some unearthed demos and rare and unreleased tracks from the “Oh! Calcutta!” sessions on there, and I KNOW nobody buys music anymore, but sincerely, the double 12” of this is, hands down, the coolest packaging of any album we’ve ever made. Filled with behind the scenes anecdotes and insights from both beex and mccool, it’s a true fan’s must-have. Also, every 13th album is packaged with an 8 ball of uncut Colombian cocaine hidden in the sleeve. So, yeah. Let’s celebrate this world championshit in high style, with a mighty new collection of songs spanning all our albums, as well as rarities, demos and outtakes, and some touring. See y’all soon!
