Music Hall of Williamsburg played host to 5th Annual Valentine’s Day Village of Love benefit in support of Planned Parenthood. The Jonathan Toubin and Panache Booking curated benefit featured a diverse lineup of NYC rock n’ roll, indie and soul performers doing short sets. The night was headlined by The Lemon Twigs who played a stripped-down set which included new material slated for their next album, as well as a few covers.

The was also an ad-hoc supergroup of NYC rock vets including Jon Spencer and Cristina Martinez of Boss Hog, Kid Congo Powers, onetime Sonic Youth member Bob Bert, and Cynthia Ross. Other unique pairings: Dap Kings leader Binky Griptite played with Reverend Vince Anderson, and April March and Mozart in the Jungle‘s Lola Kirk, whose set included a Serge Gainsbourg cover.

Also playing Village of Love: Shilpa Ray, Mike Brandon of Mystery Lights, Fiona Silver, Kendra Morris, TV Baby, Twin Gun (who subbed last minute for Bush Tetras), Beechwood, and more. Pictures from the whole night are in the gallery above.
