The Lillingtons were among the wave of ’90s pop punk bands paying strong tribute to the Ramones (they had associations with The Queers, Screeching Weasel, Lookout! Records, etc) and they’ve been playing some rare reunion shows for a few years now. Their next is at this year’s The Fest (and Pre-Fest). They’re also set to release their first new music in 11 years.

The band are now signed to Red Scare, who will put out their Project 313 EP on June 9 with a digital release happening one week earlier (pre-order). We’re premiering “Rubber Room,” which is a highly-spirited ripper that has The Lillingtons sounding like no time has passed since their last release.

Singer Kody Templeman (who’s also in Teenage Bottlerocket) tells us, “The song is about pretending you’re crazy when you’re not, just to play the system. It’s like my late Uncle Jack told me once, ‘Just sit here and pretend like you don’t know what’s going on!’ Best advice I ever received. Still use it to this day.” Bassist Cory Laurence adds, “I don’t think our intent was to change the world with this one, but there is something to be said about simple freedoms this guy enjoys…”
