The Lovely Eggs prep Dave Fridmann-produced LP (listen to 1st single)

Resolutely DIY UK duo The Lovely Eggs have been making loud, shouty, indie punk for a decade now. Their finishing up work on their new album, This is Eggland, which they made with David Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev) which they made at his Tarbox Road Studios in Upstate, NY. That’s not out till next year, but The Lovely Eggs’ new single “I Shouldn’t Have Said That,” which is on the album, will be out November 3 via Egg Records. Say the band:

We recorded this track in a derelict factory in our home town of Lancaster. We then went over to Upstate New York to mix it with Dave Fridmann. And this is the result. On the way home from mixing, we stopped off in NYC. It’s one of our favourite places. We actually played our first ever gig in New York so it was great to go back and find new places and hang out in the old ones. Hopefully we’ll get to come back and play live there next year.

Featuring buzzsaw guitars, bashing drums and buckets of sneery attitude, the single premieres in this post and you can stream it below.

You can preorder the single (physical/digital) which features cover art by cult artist David Shrigley. The Lovely Eggs will be on a UK tour later this fall — hopefully they’ll visit North America next year — and those dates are listed below.
