The Low Anthem streaming LP, touring with Mega Bog, then Haley Heynderickx

Providence indie folkies The Low Anthem are returning next week with their fifth album, The Salt Doll Went To Measure The Depth Of The Sea, on Joyful Noise. Their brand of folk has always been somber and atmospheric, but The Salt Doll is a little more somber than usual, due in part to the horrifying incident that inspired these songs:

“One second you’re dozing off in the passenger seat on the way to a gig, and the next, there’s fire and hell flames and black smoke and your face is bleeding and you can’t see, and you can’t process information, and you think it’s all over.” Jeff Prystowsky is describing one of the scariest moments in his life, as The Low Anthem’s tour van crashed and subsequently wiped out Prystowsky for several weeks, as well as wrecking loads of their gear and instruments in the process.

The album is streaming ahead of its release at NPR. Listen HERE. You can watch the album trailer below

The Low Anthem will support the album on tour with two great openers: there’s one leg with Mega Bog and one with Haley Heynderickx.

The leg with Mega Bog includes a NYC show on March 9 at Bowery Ballroom (tickets). The Low Anthem also perform at Freehold, NJ’s Concerts In The Studio on March 11 with a potluck to follow (tickets). Then they swing back to this area on their run with Haley Heynderickx for a show at Kingston, NY’s BSP on April 7 (tickets). All dates are listed below.

Meanwhile, Haley Heyndrickx is currently on a headlining tour that hits NYC tonight (2/9) at Berlin with Mike Brandon of The Mystery Lights (tickets). Her anticipated debut album I Need to Start a Garden drops in March, and she recently released the great new song “Worth It” from that album. Listen below.
