The Mavericks ready 'All Night Live' (listen to "All Over Again"), on tour now
The Mavericks have been defying easy categorization since 1989 with a tasty mix of country, roots rock, Tex-Mex, Cubano and other styles into a flavor very much their own. Their spirited live shows have always been where The Mavericks really shine and the band are set to release All Night Live Volume 1 on October 14. Recorded at various stops along their 2015 tour, this LP marks the first release for The Mavericks’ own Mono Mundo Recordings. Preorders are available in a few different packages.
We’ve got the premiere of “All Over Again,” which was originally on 2013’s In Time and is a great introduction to the uninitiated, showcasing the band’s multi-culti near-the-border sound, as well as Raul Malo’s powerful, Orbison-esque pipes. Guitarist Eddie Perez agrees, telling us “This uptempo joyous song, embodies all the sonic qualities that in my opinion, make up that distinct ‘Mavericks Sound.’ From the opening snare drum intro and ska groove, to the Latin flavored horn lines and crazy cool organ sounds. Adding a touch of Tejano accordion, driving rhythm guitars, some blazing twin guitar solos and then, a vocal performance like only El Maestro can deliver!…This is The Mavericks.” You can listen to “All Over Again” below.
The Mavericks are currently doing what they do best on tour, which will be in the NY-area in October. Though no NYC shows proper, they do play three nights at Tarrytown Music Hall on October 27 – 29 (tickets) as well as Red Bank, NJ’s Count Basie Theatre on October 25 (tickets) and Morristown, NJ’s Mayo Performing Arts Center on October 26 (tickets).
