The Mighty Boosh’s Noel Fielding bringing new comedy show to NYC in June (tickets on sale)
British comedian Noel Fielding, who you may know from The Mighty Boosh, The IT Crowd, Nevermind The Buzzcocks and lots more, will be bringing his new show, “An Evening With Noel Fielding,” to NYC at the Theater For The New City from June 8 – 13. Tickets are on sale now. Noel, who performed with The Mighty Boosh in NYC back in 2009, says:
I’m thrilled to be finally coming to New York! When we (the Boosh) did Jack Black’s festival the reaction was insane. I’m really excited and would love to play everywhere in America. It’s a unique show and I think you crazy Americans would really dig it. x
You can also watch Noel announce the NYC run via a video below. He just finished an Australian tour, and here’s a preview of what to expect via the Sydney Morning Herald:
Performing to a packed house at Hamer Hall, Fielding received a rock star welcome from the audience. They were always going to be on board (many appeared to have dressed up for the occasion) so it’s pleasing to report that, over the course of two hours (plus interval) Fielding delivered.
To go into too much detail would spoil some of the delights of this show. Suffice to say that Fielding dispenses with the stand-up to move into much more absurd and surreal situations (with assistance from a couple of sidekicks) as the show goes on. The second half, which relies a bit more heavily on crowd work, even features a plot. From a show filled with surprises, that might be the biggest surprise of all.
You can check out a short video shot during the Australian tour below as well.
