The National cover Tom Petty's "Damaged By Love"
In honor of the recently-departed Tom Petty, artists have been covering his songs. One of the latest to do this is The National (who have been doing a lot of covers in general this year). Singer Matt Berninger and guitarist Bryce Dessner posted a clip of themselves doing an acoustic take on “Damaged By Love” from Petty’s 2006 album Highway Companion. Aaron Dessner also Instagrammed a video of Matt dancing to Petty’s original version of the song. You can watch both below.
The National’s tour with Daughter hits NYC this Friday (10/6) at Forest Hills Stadium (tickets), which is coincidentally the location of Tom Petty’s very recent, last-ever NYC show.
