The National paid tribute to Daniel Johnston in Houston (watch)

The National at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island
The National in Chicago earlier this year (more by Catalina Florea)

There’s been a real outpouring of love for Daniel Johnston since news of his death broke on Wednesday afternoon (9/11). The National, who were playing Houston’s White Oak Music Hall on Wednesday night, honored Johnston by weaving his song “Devil Town,” into the chorus of their own “Not in Kansas” from this year’s I Am Easy to Find. The National uploaded video themselves as a tribute, and you can watch that below.

You can also read tributes to Johnston from Beck, Spoon, Mountain Goats, Kevin Morby, Glen Hansard, Nardwuar and more.
