The National played House of Vans Chicago and KCRW (pics, videos, setlist)

The National continue to tour in support of this year’s great Sleep Well Beast, and played Chicago’s House of Vans on Monday night (10/30). They mostly stuck to the new album, but also did a few oldies, including reaching back to the Cherry Tree EP for “Wasp Nest” and High Violet‘s “Bloodbuzz Ohio,” for which they brought out Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry. Like they did at their Forest Hills show, they also covered the Ramones’ “The KKK Took My Baby Away” (The National have been doing lots of various covers on this tour). For both “Bloodbuzz Ohio” and the Ramones cover, Matt Berninger ran to the back of the crowd (and the balconies and the coat check), with his microphone and cord in tow. After “Bloodbuzz,” he mentioned that they planned on playing “Fake Empire” but then felt it wasn’t necessary. Pictures of the Chicago show are in the gallery above and The National’s setlist is below.

The National also just did that same Ramones cover during a KCRW session, which aired yesterday. Listen here and watch two videos from the session below.

In other recent National news, they have a new video for “I’ll Still Destroy You” out and they’re headlining the second week of the inaugural All Points East festival on Saturday, June 2nd at London’s Victoria Park.
