The Pains of Being Pure at Heart at Brooklyn Bazaar
TPOBPAH at Indie Pop Prom 2017 (more by Amanda Hatfield)

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart revealed last month that they’d have a new album out this year, and now details are here. It’s called The Echo of Pleasure, and it comes out July 14 via the band’s own Painbow label. Main member Kip Berman made the album with past collaborators Jen Goma (A Sunny Day In Glasgow) and Jacob Danish Sloan (Dream Diary), well as horn player Kelly Pratt (Beirut, Arcade Fire, David Byrne & St Vincent, etc). It was produced with Andy Savours, who also worked on Pains’ last album, 2014’s Days of Abandon. The lead single is “Anymore,” a dose of upbeat poppy indie rock that’s along the same lines as the Days of Abandon stuff. Listen below (via Pitchfork).

As mentioned, Pains are touring this year, including several dates with Frankie Rose (who also has a new album on the way) and Ablebody (whose Anton & Christoph Hochheim have played in Pains). They have a Northside show with Ablebody on June 9 at Music Hall of Williamsburg (tickets). Since we last spoke, Beverly (whose Drew Citron has also played in Pains) were added to that show as well.
