The Pogues kicking off NYC run (their last U.S. tour ever?)

Pogues

Soak it up while you can. Because the really big news is that this appears to be it: When the Pogues head offstage after a St. Patrick’s Day concert in New York, it will likely mark the end of U.S. touring for the much-loved band.

“We’re kind of winding it down, really,” says Stacy. “As far as touring in the future, we won’t be coming to America, certainly not for what we would call a long tour like this one.”

Stacy, who handled many of the lead vocal duties during MacGowan’s absence in the ’90s, won’t be missing from the States. A periodic collaborator with the likes of Patti Smith and Tom Morello, he bought a New Orleans home with his wife last spring.

“If it was up to me, we’d just play America constantly,” he says, laughing. [The Day]

As previously mentioned, The Pogues are kicking off a three night run at Terminal 5 tonight (3/15), concluding with a St. Patrick’s Day show . Tuesday (3/15) and Thursday (3/17) will be opened by Titus Andronicus and Wednesday (3/16) will be opened by The So So Glos. Tickets for at least two of the shows, which have been dubbed “A Parting Glass with The Pogues”, are still on sale.

The above-pictured Pogues box set was released in 2008 and is also still on sale now.

And in case you can’t make any of the shows, or you just can’t get enough Pogues, this Saturday (3/19) at The Rock Shop, The Fauxges are performing a St. Patrick’s Day tribute.
