The Radio Dept. favored their hushed side at Warsaw (setlist, video, review)

If you prefer the more hushed side of Sweden’s The Radio Dept. over the more techno-inspired sound of 2016’s excellent Running Out of Love, the band’s winter tour — which wrapped up this weekend — was likely a hit-fest. Having just reissued their debut LP, Lesser Matters, on vinyl and having a new single that is very much in that mold, this tour featured an abundance of gentler material. They opened Saturday’s show at Brooklyn’s Warsaw with “I Don’t Like It Like This,” which is from their 2005 This Past Week EP but may be be better known from the Marie Antoinette soundtrack. They ended up playing all three Marie Antoinette soundtrack songs, each of which elicited whoops and hollers from the packed house.

With the same four-piece lineup that played here less than a year ago, they also gave us early single “Pulling Our Weight,” “Keen on Boys” from Lesser Matters,” “I Wanted You to Feel the Same” from Pet Grief and “A Token of Gratitude” from Clinging to a Scheme. There were a few from Running Out of Love, too, including “Swedish Guns,” “Can’t Be Guilty” and “Sloboda Narodu” which they segued into single (and related song) “Death to Fascism.” The night ended with an encore of “Occupied,” their protest to former label Labrador.

A lovely show. Setlist and a few videos from Warsaw are below.
