Back in action after five years off, The Rapture have been gearing up for their appearance at this weekend’s Just Like Heaven fest in L.A. with a couple warm-up shows in Brooklyn. Following a secret show at Greenpoint’s Good Room last week, Luke Jenner and the band played Music Hall of Williamsburg on Tuesday night (4/30) and the crowd was ready to party like it was 2003. By the time classic single “House of Jealous Lovers” hit midway though the set, the whole place was going nuts and a mosh pit even sprung up at one point. Other Peak Williamsburg bangers played: “Echoes,” “Whoo! Alright – Yeah… Uh Huh” and “How Deep is Your Love?” which closed out the encore.

It was really the Luke Jenner Show last night, as The Rapture frontman opened the night with a solo set of folky tunes set against projections of pictures from his past. Next up were Seedy Films, with whom he plays drums and whose skronky sound is very much in the post-punk/no-wave tradition. Pictures from the whole night are in the gallery above and setlist and a few Instagram videos from the MHOW show are below.

Not part of the reunion is Mattie Safer, who played bass and sang lead on a few Rapture songs, and hasn’t been part of the group for 10 years. His new project, Safer, plays tonight (5/1) at Union Pool with Gustaf, Flasyd, and Eyes of Love (tickets).
