We are not long from having every ’90s band reunited. We just posted about Veruca Salt’s original line-up getting back together and now comes word that Matt Sharp is reopening The Rentals counter with a new line-up of the band and a new album — their first in 15 years — due on Polyvinyl sometime next year.

The Rentals, which Sharp started as a Weezer (who are also planning a new album) side project before quitting that band in 1997, have been back in sporadic action since 2006, occasionally playing shows. Previous line-ups featured Petra Hayden and Maya Rudolph, but the new one is this: Jess Wolfe & Holly Laessig (Lucius), Ryen Slegr (Ozma), Lauren Chipman (The Section Quartet) and Patrick Carney (The Black Keys). The new album was recorded in Los Angeles, Nashville and New York City and was produced by Matt Sharp & The Rentals.

No other details have been released. While we wait for those, what other ’90s bands would you like to see reunite? I’m still hoping for Ride.
