As mentioned, Wendy and Lisa got The Revolution back together for some Prince tribute shows, the first of which went down last night at Minneapolis’s famed First Avenue club.

It was obviously an emotional evening as the band played a bunch of classic Prince jams like “Little Red Corvette” and “Let’s Go Crazy.” They were also joined by many other guests from the Prince universe like Andre Cymone and Dez Dickerson, former protege Apollonia for “Baby I’m A Star,” and R&B singer Bilal who also sang on “Baby’s I’m A Star,” plus “The Beautiful Ones” and “When Doves Cry.” Those shows will continue for the next two nights. The night ended, of course, with “Purple Rain.” Video, instagrams, and setlist from the show are below. The Revolution play First Avenue again tonight and Saturday.

Meanwhile, there’s another star-studded Prince tribute in the works. While details haven’t been announced, it’ll go down in Minneapolis on October 13 with rumored participants including Sheila E and Morris Day and the Time along with The Revolution and New Power Generation. A formal announcement about that is expected to come after Labor Day.
