Rezillos

Scotland’s The Rezillos (for a while known as The Revillos) were one of the more fun bands of new wave’s early days, still playing at punk speeds but with good time lyrics, pop smarts and the distinctive gruff, nasally vocals of Eugene Reynolds, sweetened by co-lead Faye Fife. Songs like “”Flying Saucer Attack,” “Can’t Stand My Baby,” and “(My Baby Does) Good Sculptures” are classics of the era, all of which can be found on the essential compilation Can’t Stand the Rezillos which you can stream at the bottom of this post via Spotify.

The band haven’t played NYC in ten years (they played Warsaw, Maxwell’s and the Court Tavern in New Brunswick in 2002), but will be here — with Reynolds and Fife at the front — for shows in November: They return to Maxwell’s in Hoboken on 11/7 (tix) and there’s the previously-mentioned NYC show at Bowery Electric on 11/10 with Murphy’s Law (tix). They’re also hitting Ollie’s Point in Amityville, and Brighton Bar in Long Branch, and all the dates listed, along with some streams and a couple classic video clips, below…
