The Rock Shop closing at the end of July

Brooklyn’s The Rock Shop, which opened in Gowanus/Park Slope in 2010, stopped hosting live music at the end of 2016, turning itself into a destination for pinball and pool, and now comes word that the club will close its doors at the end of July. From their Facebook:

After 7+ years The Rock Shop will be closing its doors at the end of the month. So come have a drink in the next two weeks, and join us for our closing party on Friday, July 28th! Thanks to everyone that made this such an amazing place!

The Park Slope Patch talked to Rock Shop manager Brendan Niles who said, “Rent’s too high. Taxes are too high. Too much development happening on Fourth Avenue,” and said that the “aura of the Rock Shop” will still be found at The Saint Catherine, in Prospect Heights (which has the same owners).

Before it was The Rock Shop, you may remember the space was Cattyshack. We saw some good shows at The Rock Shop over the years.
