the Saturday night in Dance w/ Showtrotta

This weekend is another one full of great dance events. Hopefully with options ranging from outdoor disco to Moby’s rock band side project there’s something for everybody.

While it was just last weekend that I was sweating away to Feadz‘s set at the Yard in 90 degree heat, this weekend is looking to be a bit more like fall, but still warm enough to dance outdoors.

The outdoor fun continues at the Yard with Summertime Rolls featuring Seth Troxler (Spectral, Crosstown Rebels | Berlin), Wolf + Lamb (Wolf + Lamb | Brooklyn), and Spinoza (The Bunker, Beyond | Brooklyn).

Join us as we squeeze out the last bit of fun out of our Summer (September 21 is the Equinox, making this the very last day of Summer!) with some of our favorite DJs. House, techno, booze, and homemade Mexican food in Brooklyn’s best open-air venue. Afterhours at 12-turn-13…

For some more outdoor dancing that is more disco/house oriented (and FREE!) you can catch Nick Chacona deejaying at Grand Ferry Park along with many others at Fine Diving 004:

Experimentally-minded music and art – exploring the relationships between the concert hall and the dance floor, the austere and the lush, the hypnotic and the startling.

Saturday night is also the return of the Easy Lover loft party! I have yet to go to one of these parties, but it’s thrown by some of the same guys (Justin Carter and DJ Probus) who kept the Water Taxi Beach Party bumpin every Saturday night this summer. If that’s any indication you won’t want to miss this.

Take the elevator to the top floor. $10 with RSVP to [email protected]. $15 without.

One of the events happening Saturday that I’m most looking forward to is Sinden at Love. I witnessed an excellent set of grimey, UK, fidgety beats from him when he came through on the Fool’s Gold tour back in April. Highly recommended!

$10 advanced tickets available here.

And one little oddball event: Non-dance music from a dance music man – Moby‘s rock band, the Little Death NYC is at Mercury Lounge. Advanced tickets available here. Did anyone check out Degenerates at Hiro Thursday? How was it?

There’s more headed your way soon for Sunday and the beginnings of another amazing week in dance in New York coming up, so keep checking back!
