The Strokes playing New Year's Eve at Barclays Center

The Strokes were supposed to play hometown festival Governors Ball earlier this year, but weather got in the way, and they posted a statement that seemed to imply they’d schedule another NYC show at some point to make up for it. Well, they’ve just announced a very big one happening on a very big day: New Year’s Eve at Barclays Center. Tickets go on sale Friday (8/9) at 10 AM, and Governors Ball three-day and Sunday pass holders can get tickets early in a presale starting Tuesday (8/6) at 10 AM. There are other presales on Tuesday, too. You can watch an announcement video for the show below.

UPDATE: Mac DeMarco and Hinds are also on the bill.

As pictured above, The Strokes just played Lollapalooza this past weekend. Their only other upcoming date at the moment is Ohana Festival.
