UPDATE: The Strokes released a new EP today, Future Present Past, today via Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records with three new songs, “Drag Queen,” “OBLIVIUS,” and “Threat of Joy” plus a remix of “OBLIVIUS.” It’s out June 3 and you can preorder it right now…though the Cult Records website is having some trouble right now. You can watch a video they just posted, “A Conversation With The Strokes,” below.

UPDATE: Julian said, in an especially gravely voice, on his Sirius XMU show, that there will be a new EP and the first single, “OBLIVIUS,” will indeed debut later on his show. Listen to it here.

Something is up in the world of The Strokes. Projections on a building at the corner of Houston and Bowery in NYC (see above), as well as one in London, show a new Strokes logo, plus animated images of a man running with the words  “future” “present,” and “past” and finally the logo for Julian Casablancas’ label, Cult Records. Cult Records’ website, meanwhile, now has the old Strokes logo on it with a hashtag of #futurepresentpast.

NME is reporting that a new Strokes single will premiere today on Julian Casablancas debut episode of his Sirius XMU show “Culture Void.” That airs at 10 AM Eastern.

The Strokes are playing Capitol Theatre on May 31 with Rey Pila ahead of their Governors Ball appearance. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, May 27 at noon.
