It’s been 10 years since The Tyde released a new album — 2006’s Three’s Co. — but the band, fronted by Darren Rademaker (Beachwood Sparks, Further) are finally back with their fourth album. The record’s out September 4 via Spiritual Pajamas and, as with the rest of their catalog, It’s titled in winking numerology, Darren 4 (the cover art offers cues to its inspiration). Darren describes the LP as “songs of sea, sex and sand sprinkled with goodbyes, divorce, truthful situations and perhaps a few laughs.” Pre-orders for the LP are up now and the limited edition vinyl is almost sold out.

As usual, Darren’s brother Brent is on the LP, along with a bunch of previous collaborators, and first single “The Curse in Reverse” features guitarwork and vocals by ex Suede guitarist Bernard Butler. Rademaker’s love of Felt and Television, as well as the Laurel Canyon scene and other sounds of his SoCal heritage, is still present 10 years later. Listen now:

The Tyde will play in Los Angeles this weekend as part of Burger/Lolipop Records’ festival Echo Park Rising which happens at The Echo on Sunday, August 21 with The Sloths, Pizza Time, The Side Eyes, Creation Factory, Wyatt Blair, Friendly Males, and Beach Bums. Flyer is below. They’ll also play September 8 at San Francisco’s California Academy of Sciences where they’ll open for White Fence. You can also stream The Tyde’s great 2003 album, Twice, below.
