The Van Pelt & Gold Dime (ex-Talk Normal) opening for Rainer Maria

Rainer Maria returned last year with the great S/T, their first album in 11 years, and they’re keeping the momentum going with a hometown one-off at new-ish Brooklyn venue Elsewhere on February 22. Two great openers were added to that show: fellow indie/emo vets The Van Pelt (who celebrated the 20th anniversary of Sultans of Sentiment and opened Cap’n Jazz’s NYC show last year) and Gold Dime (the current band of Talk Normal drummer Andrya Ambro). Tickets are still available.

The Van Pelt wrapped up 2017 by posting a video on New Year’s Eve of a 1997 Germany show, shot by long-running, beloved videographer Unartig. Watch that below.

Gold Dime released their album Nerves on Fire Talk last year, and if you liked Talk Normal you’ll probably instantly dig this too. It also works well with Rainer Maria. Listen below.

Rainer Maria and The Van Pelt were also both interviewed for the new Anthology of Emo: Volume 1 book that’s out now on Polyvinyl.
