The War On Drugs announce new album, share new single "Holding On"

On Record Store Day, The War On Drugs released “Thinking of a Place,” their first single for Atlantic Records. Now they’ve officially announced their new album, A Deeper Understanding, which will include “Thinking of a Place” as well as the brand new single “Holding On.” Like the first single, “Holding On” sounds like classic War On Drugs which is not a bad thing at all. Listen below.

A Deeper Understanding is the band’s fourth album and the followup to their 2014 breakthrough album Lost In The Dream. It’ll be out on August 25. The band made it with engineer Shawn Everett, who also worked on the new Broken Social Scene and Perfume Genius albums. That’s the artwork above and you can check out the tracklist below.

As mentioned, TWOD are also touring, including a big NYC show on September 22 at Central Park SummerStage (tickets). All dates are listed below.
