The War on Drugs share new video, played Bowery Ballroom (pics)

The War On Drugs will release their anticipated Atlantic debut A Deeper Understanding on August 25, but way ahead of its release they stopped in NYC to play Colbert and decided to play an intimate Bowery Ballroom show while here. They played singles “Thinking of a Place” and “Holdin’ On,” plus two songs from the album that haven’t been released yet, “Pain” and “Strangest Thing.” Aside from the new stuff, they kept their set to 2014’s great Lost in the Dream and also covered Warren Zevon’s “Accidentally Like a Martyr.” Setlist and video below. Pictures — including shots of opener Anders Parker — are in the gallery above.

The War On Drugs will be back in NYC for a much larger show when their fall tour hits Central Park SummerStage on September 22 (tickets).

The War On Drugs also just released a new video for “Holdin’ On,” starring Frankie Faison (aka Ervin Burrell from The Wire). It was directed by Brett Haley with concept by Krysten Ritter. Watch:
