The Weeknd drops new EP 'My Dear Melancholy' (listen)

After announcing it just hours beforehand, The Weeknd returned at midnight with a new EP, My Dear Melancholy. It’s got six songs, one of which is co-produced by Mike Will Made It (“Try Me”), one of which is co-produced by Skrillex (“Wasted Times”), and two of which are produced by French electronic musician Gesaffelstein (“I Was Never There” and “Hurt You”). Nicolas Jaar also has a songwriting credit on “Call Out My Name” and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk has one on “Hurt You.” On first listen, it sounds like a bit of a return to his more atmospheric roots, compared to the poppier stuff he had been doing lately. You can stream the whole thing, along with a short video, below.

There are also “Call Out My Name” and “Try Me” videos exclusively on Spotify.

The Weeknd is headlining a few festivals this year, including Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Panorama.
