The Zombies tell us who they’re listening to as they leave on tour

The ZombiesOdessey & Oracle 50th Anniversary Tour kicks off this week and Colin Blunstone, Rod Argent and the gang will be in NYC for a couple different events: the Odessey & Oracle book event at The Strand on Wednesday (3/15), and then they’ll be back later this month to play O&O in full at Town Hall on March 25 (still a few tickets left). All tour dates are below.

Ahead of the tour, we asked the band what current music they’re listening to. The band compiled a list which includes The Shins (who are also in NYC this week), The Lemon Twigs (who probably own Odessey & Oracle), Spoon and more. Check out the list, with a little commentary from Rod Argent, (and a stream of Odessey & Oracle‘s 40th anniversary concert), below.

The Zombies – Top 10 Current Artists They’re Into Right Now

  • Hollis Brown – A really tight rock and roll band. They’ve toured with us, and we’ve become friends. Great band, good hooks, they’re keeping rock & roll alive! Their new single Run Right To You is brilliant!
  • The Shins – we like their new record.
  • Cage The Elephant – Congrats on the Grammy boys! Keep writing good songs!
  • Vintage Trouble – we saw them play at a festival a few years back, absolutely brilliant!
  • London Grammar – Colin’s daughter turned us onto them. We like their sound!
  • The Lemon Twigs – great harmonies by this young band! We wish them well!
  • Spoon – our manager played us their single. It’s cool!
  • Ed Sheeran – We like his songwriting.
  • The Vaccines – met them at SXSW a few years back. Great guys!
  • BORNS – He’s got a great voice!
