The Oscars announced 2020 shortlists for a few categories, one of those being Best Song. Among those who could be nominated: Thom Yorke for “Daily Battles” from Motherless Brooklyn, and Beyonce‘s “Spirit” from The Lion KingPharrell Williams‘ “Letter To My Godfather” from The Black Godfather, and Dillon Francis for “Catchy Song” from The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. Thom made the shortlist last year too for “Suspirium” from Suspiria, but the song ended up not actually getting nominated.

Meanwhile Elton John is on the shortlist twice: for “Never Too Late,” a new song he and Tim Rice wrote for The Lion King, and “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” which he and Bernie Taupin wrote for Rocketman. Randy Newman is up yet again for another Toy Story song, and Paul Williams, who hasn’t been nominated for a Best Song Oscar since “The Rainbow Connection” from 1980’s The Muppet Movie, could get nominated for “Da Bronx” from the film of the same name.

Not on the Oscars Best Song shortlist: Taylor Swift‘s “Beautiful Ghosts” from the upcoming and frankly scary-looking big screen Cats adaptation. Sorry, Taylor!
