Thursday began full-album shows, joined by Jonah Matranga & Hether Fortune

Thursday began their run of full-album shows which sees them doing two nights in each city, with Full Collapse in full on night one and War All The Time in full on night two. The run began at Slim’s in San Francisco on Wednesday (4/25) and Thursday (4/26). They haven’t announced any openers for this tour, and both of the San Francisco shows had surprise openers. Night 1 had Wax Idols, who used to be signed to Geoff Rickly’s label, and whose main member Hether Fortune goes back with Thursday and has performed with them before. She did that again on Wednesday, joining them on stage for “Paris In Flames” (video below).

Night two had a friend Thursday go even further back with, Jonah Matranga (of Far, New End Original, onelinedrawing, etc). Jonah opened the show with a solo set that included some Far songs, his cover of Deftones’ “Be Quiet & Drive,” and more, and he later joined Thursday on stage during their set for “Steps Ascending.” We haven’t found a video of that collaboration yet, but you can watch a video of Jonah’s opening set, below.

Thursday continue the run at LA’s Echoplex tonight (4/27) and Saturday (4/28), and then they hit San Diego’s Soda Bar Sunday (4/29) and Monday (4/29). After that, they hit Chicago in June, their home state of NJ at the soon-to-reopen Asbury Lanes in August (first two nights sold out, nights three and four on sale), LA again in November, and Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg the week between Christmas and New Year’s (first three nights sold out, night four on sale).

UPDATE: Jonah says “more fun comin up with Thursday later this weekend” so expect him in LA and/or San Diego too!

Speaking of Wax Idols, their new album Happy Ending comes out May 16 via Hether’s own Etruscan Gold label, and she recently released a new song from it called “Too Late.” Listen below.
