Thurston Moore expands tour, protests Radiohead’s Israel show

thurstonmoore

Thurston Moore‘s new album Rock n Roll Consciousness comes out this Friday (4/28) via Caroline International, and he’ll begin a tour in May. Both the album and tour have Thurston joined by his Sonic Youth bandmate Steve Shelley and My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe. Thurston has just added more tour dates to his schedule, including Cambridge, Philly, DC, and more.

The tour includes his previously-announced Brooklyn show on May 20 at Music Hall of Williamsburg (tickets). Since we last spoke, Pigeons were added to that show as an opener. Updated dates, including Pitchfork Music Festival, are listed below.

Thurston Moore is also one of many artists — including TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe and Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters — who are protesting Radiohead‘s Israel show. Thurston signed an open letter on the Artists’ Pledge for Palestine’s website. He also added his own statement:

If any concerned, humanitarian-conscious activists employ a boycott to protest brutal injustice in their country and request artists and scholars to refrain from working and/or being promoted as supportive of the normalization of that country—then I choose NOT to cross that line and suggest to all to not be complicit. It is a small sacrifice in respect to those who struggle in honourable opposition to state-sponsored fascism.

Thurston has previously revealed that he is against performing in Israel due to the conflict with Palestine.
