Thurston Moore releasing Chelsea Manning benefit single (listen); Lee Ranaldo's Glacial playing Union Pool

As usual, things are afoot in the post-Sonic Youth universe. Thurston Moore is releasing a cassingle to support the efforts to free the currently imprisoned U.S. Army private Chelsea Manning (who is facing a long imprisonment after sharing information on WikiLeaks). He’s shared the a-side of the cassingle, “Chelsea’s Kiss,” which starts out lovely and then gets sludgy and furious. You can listen to it below. The tape will be out for Cassette Store Day (10/8).

Meanwhile, Lee Ranaldo has a show coming up in NYC with Glacial, the trio that also features bagpipe player David Watson, and drummer Tony Buck. That happens at Union Pool on October 2. They’ll be joined by drone-folk duo 75 Dollar Bill and MV Carbon for that show, and Tickets for that are on sale now.

And don’t forget that Kim Gordon has a sweet new song out.
