Sonos’ flagship NYC store opened on Tuesday (7/19), and Thurston Moore, El-P, Walter Schreifels, Rakim, Kyp Malone (TV on the Radio), and Nancy Whang (LCD Soundsystem) were on hand to hang out, curate some playlists and check out the space. As mentioned, the SoHo location is tricked out with seven listening rooms, all designed like a living room, each one styled by a different artist. Thurston Moore lent the store tapes from his collection to decorate one of the rooms, and he seemed to take to Nancy’s dog, Doris, while there. Pics from the Sonos store opening are in the gallery above and a few more of Doris making friends, below.

As mentioned, the Sonos Store will be hosting events this week. There’s a happy hour with The Drop Rosé Wine today (7/20) from 5-7PM; “listening and bites” with the Baohaus crew on Thursday (7/21) from 5-7 PM; and Frankel’s Delicatessen will be hosting “New Music Friday” lunch from noon – 2 PM and playing Nao’s For All We Know and Floating Points’ Kuiper.

This weekend, Pitchfork Radio will be broadcasting live from the Sonos store with appearances, interviews, and mixes from David Bryne, Will Butler (Arcade Fire), Prodigy (Mobb Deep), Prince Paul, Frankie Cosmos, Sadie Dupuis (Speedy Ortiz), The Range, the Morbid Anatomy Museum, Yumi Zouma, and more.
