Tierra Whack brought her eccentric live show to the Rainbow Room (pics, video)

Philly rapper Tierra Whack has been one of the most unique fast-rising stars that hip hop (or any genre) has seen in a while. Her unpigeonholeable 2018 album Whack World was made up of 15 one-minute songs and an accompanying video, and its brief, collage-like approach has already been cited as an inspiration by Solange and Earl Sweatshirt. Not to mention she caught the attention of Flying Lotus, who featured her on his upcoming album. She followed that album with a string of singles this year, and she came to NYC to perform just about all of her recent material at a Red Bull Music Festival show at The Rockefeller Center’s Rainbow Room on Friday (5/10). Spotted in the crowd were David Byrne, Dev Hynes, and Aaron Maine from Porches. Tierra Whack’s outfit was as eccentric as her music, as you can see for yourself in the photo gallery above. Video below.

Like FKA twigs who also just played Red Bull Music Festival, Whack will be back in NYC for Afropunk Brooklyn.
