Timeshares streaming ‘Already Dead,’ touring, playing two NYC-area shows (one with The Movielife)

by Andrew Sacher

Timeshares

Long Island’s Timeshares have been at it since ’09, with releases on Kiss of Death, Kind of Like and other labels, and earlier this year they made the jump to the larger SideOneDummy, who will release their new album Already Dead next week (4/28). The new album puts Timeshares in a long tradition of punk bands bringing a singer/songwriter approach to the genre. Like Hot Water Music, Lucero, The Gaslight Anthem, The Menzingers, and more before them, Timeshares sound like maybe Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty were as important to their musical upbringing as Punk-O-Rama.

Singer Jon Hernandez’s voice and melodies can often recall Matt Pryor too, and if you’ve ever wondered what it would have sounded like if Matt kept the intensity of songs like “Holiday” while writing songs like “Turn Out The Light,” Already Dead might have your answer. The whole record is excellent, and you can hear it in full (via Spin) below.

They’ll celebrate the record with an in-store at West Babylon, NY’s Looney Tunes on April 28, which will have free pizza, coffee and donuts. Flyer for that is below.

Then Timeshares tour Europe in May, and about a month after getting home, they’ll play The Movielife‘s iDobi Meltdown Festival at NJ’s Starland Ballroom. They play night 2 (6/27) with The Movielife, Balance & Composure and Make Do and Mend, which is the night after Lifetime, The Menzingers, Laura Stevenson and Worriers play. Tickets for both are still available. And like every other punk band on earth, Timeshares will head to Gainesville in the fall for The Fest.

All dates are listed, with the album stream, below…
