Title Fight played Knockdown Center (setlist, videos, review)

Title Fight have been relatively quiet lately — they haven’t released anything since their early-2015 LP Hyperview — but they’re currently in the midst of a short Northeast tour that hit NYC last night. It was a sold-out show at the warehouse/arts space Knockdown Center in Maspeth, Queens, which is a cool, small-ish space to see them in (though not as intimate as their last trip to NYC). As they’ve been for quite a while now, they were loud, powerful, and played like total pros.

With no new material to support, Title Fight mixed it up pretty well last night, paying almost equal attention to their double-time punk early days, their recent shoegazy material, and the in-between. As always, the crowd went craziest for the early songs, but now that those Hyperview songs have really settled in, those are getting people bouncing around too — especially the faster ones like “Mrahc” and “Rose of Sharon,” and the lead single “Chlorine.” My personal favorite moment was “Secret Society” off Floral Green, which they closed the show with. That really is one hell of a song and it totally comes alive at their shows.

Opening the show was a younger band from Title Fight’s hometown of Kingston, PA, Westpoint, and after them it was DC hardcore/rock n roll blenders GIVE (who shouted out Dave Franklin from the stage).
